Toronto’s SickKids hospital has been named the world’s best children’s hospital for a second consecutive year in Newsweek’s 2026 ranking.
The ranking evaluated 250 pediatric hospitals worldwide, placing SickKids ahead of Boston Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital in Rome and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Dr. Ronald Cohn, president and CEO of SickKids, said the achievement reflects the dedication of the hospital’s staff, physicians, volunteers and supporters, adding that retaining the top position demonstrates the institution’s commitment to excellence.
The ranking, produced by Newsweek in partnership with data company Statista, was based on three key criteria: professional reputation, accreditation standards and patient-reported outcome measures.
Two other Canadian hospitals also appeared in the top rankings: BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver ranked ninth, while Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary placed 15th.
