U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the European Union has officially joined what he described as the economic isolation of the Islamic Republic, adding that Washington appreciates Europe’s “firm and early stance” on the matter.
He said the United States is standing “firmly” alongside its allies to ensure that the Islamic Republic cannot use the global financial system to fund its nuclear program, weapons programs, and proxy forces that Washington considers terrorist organizations.
The U.S. Treasury Secretary also accused the Islamic Republic’s government of “killing” and said financial pressure against Tehran would continue until all remaining channels of financing are cut off.
Bessent added: “The world is sending a clear message to the Iranian government: We will not stop until every remaining financial channel is cut off.”
