U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the European Union has officially joined what he described as the economic isolation of the Islamic Republic, adding that Washington appreciates Europe’s \u201cfirm and early stance\u201d on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the United States is standing \u201cfirmly\u201d alongside its allies to ensure that the Islamic Republic cannot use the global financial system to fund its nuclear program, weapons programs, and proxy forces that Washington considers terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The U.S. Treasury Secretary also accused the Islamic Republic’s government of \u201ckilling\u201d and said financial pressure against Tehran would continue until all remaining channels of financing are cut off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
